1. Ways to gain levels in WoW as a Warlock
There are a few ways to gain experience in WoW. The most popular method is questing which involves obtaining and completing tasks (quests) provided by NPC's (non player characters) This involves killing mobs (the various types of creatures in the game), collecting items, or using a quest item to complete a task. This is without a doubt the fastest way to level in World Of Warcraft and this Warlock Leveling Guide recommends that anyone use questing for the fastest leveling. The video below this segment shows one of the best in game WoW Quest Helper programs you can use to make leveling through questing a breeze. There is no faster way to level AND maximize your limited playing time. Other ways to level include grinding or killing mobs over and over again in a small area. This used to be argued as the best method for leveling but has been proven to not be very effective, completely boring and you miss the story line (lore) behind the game. You can also run dungeons or instances that provide very good experience and gear drops but requires assembling a group of 5 players which must include a tanking type player and a healer. Generally you will find the time wasted trying to put these groups together does not make it a very effective way to level fast. As a warlock, I have found that questing is pretty much the way to go. Warlocks are a very efficient leveling class due to the type of abilities available as well as the pet mechanics they posses. Check out the video below and make sure to catch the talent spec addon at the end. It's the coolest thing I have seen in an addon. |

2. Gear & Stats For A Warlock
If you are new to the game and using this guide for leveling your first warlock you need to know that you can only wear cloth armor and will never change no matter the level you obtain. Warlocks are always limited to cloth armor. Weapon Types Available To Warlocks: Staffs, Daggers, 1 Handed Swords, Wands These are the only weapons a Warlock may use even if another type of weapon has the stats we need we cannot equip it. Stats Important To Leveling A Warlock (Most stats increase your demon%u2019s stats as well) Stamina: Increases your health by 10 points per 1 point of Stamina (Ex. 3 points of Stamina on a piece of gear would equate to a gain of 30 health points). Intellect:The first 20 points of intellect provide one point of mana. After that each point of intellect gives 15 mana points . Intellect also increases your chance to critically hit with spells. Spirit: Increases your mana and health regeneration while out of combat. Also increases %u2018spell power%u2019 by 30% when Fel Armor is active. Strength and Agility: The warlock class does not use these stats at all. Spell Power: Increases the amount of damage and healing done by spells. Hit Rating: Increases your chance to hit a target with spells. Critical Strike Rating: Increases your chance to critically hit a target. Those are the basic stats you need to focus on while leveling your Warlock. Stats In Order Of Priority (mainly effect the Warlock between the levels of 60-80) Stamina / Spell Power > Hit Rating > Intellect / Spirit / Critical Strike Rating Here%u2019s why: Due to the unique spell %u2018Life Tap,%u2019 we are able to convert health into mana. Therefore, the more health we have, the more mana available to us. Spell Power is very important as well because it is what boosts our damage output. Some may argue that Spell Power is what comes first. Some may argue that Stamina comes first. No one is wrong, it just depends on what style of play you prefer. HOWEVER During the extreme lower levels (such as 1-15 or 1-25), Spell power, Hit Rating, and Critical Strike Rating may not be as easily obtainable as Stamina, Intellect, and Spirit are. Therefore, at the lower levels described above, I would suggest: Stamina>Intellect / Spell Power / Spirit Many people prefer to stack Stamina at the lower levels because it provides more survivability. Intellect is more abundant at the lower levels as well, so whenever you see a piece of gear with Stamina and Intellect on it, it is usually a good bet to wear it. Spell Power isn%u2019t as widely available yet until around mid 20s to 30s. However, don%u2019t let that stop you from wearing it if you can find it. A quick note for weapons and armor in general: Warlocks are not interested in how much Armor something has or how much physical damage it can do, simply because warlocks do not use physical damage. It would be in your best interest to not pay attention to a weapon%u2019s DPS (Usually in parenthesis under weapon damage) nor how much Armor a piece of cloth has. I highly recommend that you find a wand to use at the lower levels. They do an absurd amount of damage at the lower levels and makes things a LOT easier (you don%u2019t use mana while using a wand!). |

3.The Demons
Demons are available as early as level 2. Every warlock, no matter how he put his talents in, can have 4 demons always available by summon. The Imp (Available at Level 2): This guy does nice damage until you can get your Void Walker. He has nice group utility because of Blood Pact, which increases the party%u2019s health by a certain amount. He is also VERY nice for if you are Affliction because he has a seemingly never-ending mana pool that you can drain mana from. The Void Walker (Available at level 10 after completing a quest for the Warlock class): The VW, or Blueberry as people like to call it, is fantastic at 10-40 or 50 IF you are demonology (it%u2019s not to bad in affliction, but once you get Dark Pact in affliction, it is best to use an Imp or Succubus). This pet is the warlock%u2019s %u2018Tank,%u2019 especially true at level 10-30. He has nice threat generation, which means he can take all the damage for you. He can solo a few mobs at once sometimes if you are under pressure. The Succubus (Available at level 20 after completing a quest specifically for the Warlock class): The Succy, as people call it, is probably the best raw damage demon (only really true at 20-50 or so). If you are affliction, you can use this sexy beast while you drain tank the mob. Make sure all of her abilities are turned off (by right clicking them) and she won%u2019t spend any of her mana. The Fel Hunter (Available at level 30 after doing a Warlock specific quest): This puppy (Fel pup as people call it) is our PvP pet. He can dispel magic effects (one from you or one from the enemy), spell lock targets, and provide a spirit and intellect buff for the group. He is usually used in high end raiding affliction specs because of his damage ability that increases when you have more dots on the target. Not the best leveling pet, but can be really useful if you have him out while on a PvP server. The Felguard (Level 50 Demonology Talent, requires 40 points in Demonology): This is the huge reason why people say Demonology is better than affliction. This demon has an amazing damage output and can tank regular mobs fairly well while questing. This is THE pet to almost always have out if you go 41 points into the demonology tree. Infernal and Doomguard: Both of these, in terms of leveling, are relatively useless. If you get in trouble, at level 50, you are able to use the Infernal at the cost of a 1-hour Cool Down. This guy hits pretty dang hard and can definitely surprise someone who might attack you if you are in a Battleground or on a PvP server. A nice twist to things every once in a while. The Doomguard can be summoned by chance of the Curse of Doom spell (only useable on PvE targets). He can also be summoned once you gain the spell from the Blasted Lands (If I recall). This link is helpful on where to get the Ritual of Doom (For summoning the Doomguard). ****Note**** The quests to get the Void Walker, Succubus, and Fel Hunter are different for each race. |
